We were beyond excited to be asked back for the second outing of Fritz Lang’s German expressionist sci-fi classic, Metropolis, in Bridport with live Sci-Fi Surf soundtrack! This iconic silent film, which explores the stark contrasts between a Utopian society and the grim reality of its underground workers, was brought to life with a live soundtrack by the incredible Palooka 5.

Sonic Sound provided full PA, sound control, and engineering for the event, including wireless IEMs. We also liaised directly with the venue to ensure the event would go smoothly.

Palooka 5, known for their unique blend of 1960s-inspired ‘sci-fi surf’ music, provided a dynamic and immersive auditory experience that perfectly complemented the visual masterpiece of Metropolis. Their energetic performances and vintage musical instruments created an authentic and captivating atmosphere that audiences loved.

To kick off the evening, we also had a special screening of Georges Méliès’ 1902 science fiction adventure Impossible Voyage, accompanied by a ‘live’ DJ soundtrack from Lee Grimshaw, head of the Spinout Nuggets Record label. This was an unforgettable night of cinematic and musical fusion!
