The London date of the Metropolis tour took place at St Mary’s Church, Walthamstow, with Sonic Sound providing a full day‑to‑night sound hire and engineering service for this special live cinema event.

This show required an early load‑in and a long operational day, covering system setup, soundcheck, performance, and full derig at the end of the night. Sonic Sound supplied a standard sound hire kit, including a digital mixing desk, wireless microphones, instrument microphones, wireless in‑ear monitoring (IEM) systems, stage boxes, DI boxes, microphone stands, and comprehensive signal and power cabling throughout the space.

Church venues present their own unique acoustic challenges, particularly when combining spoken‑word film elements with dynamic live music. Careful system tuning was essential to maintain clarity and intelligibility without excessive reverberation. Wireless IEMs were again a key part of the setup, allowing the band to perform confidently without relying on loud stage monitors, keeping on‑stage volume controlled in the highly reflective environment.

Battery management across all radio systems was handled proactively to eliminate any risk during the extended runtime of the event, ensuring reliable operation from doors through to the final cues.

Alongside the audio provision, I also supplied basic atmospheric lighting at no additional charge, subtly illuminating the performance area to support visibility while respecting the cinematic focus of the screening.
