Some bands make your job easy – they walk on, deliver, and let the music do the talking. When we were asked to provide sound and lighting for tribute act The Oasis Experience at Mambo in Taunton, we got exactly that.
A proper night out.
Mambo is a cracking venue. The raised balcony stage, the open courtyard below, and that easy Taunton atmosphere make it a genuinely special spot for live music. It was a hot one – a proper summer evening – and it made for a relaxed, enjoyable setting for a night of music.
And the band? Superb. The Oasis Experience delivered exactly what you want from the material: the swagger, the anthems, and the attitude, played with real conviction. From the opening number to the final chorus, they were tight, confident, and sounding the part.
The technical side
Behind a night like this sits a full production, and we ran the lot in-house.
We provided a full PA system to fill the space with clean, punchy sound, mixed on our Allen & Heath SQ-5 digital console. The SQ-5 is a workhorse for a reason – the headroom, the flexibility, and the recallable scenes make it ideal for a busy live set where the mix needs to stay tight from the first song to the last.
Lighting was driven by our Zero 88 FLX, giving us full control over the rig throughout the show. Moving heads, LED pars, audience blinders, uplights and haze all sat under our fingertips, so every song got the look it deserved – big washes of colour for the anthems, sharper looks to lift the peaks, and plenty of movement to match the pace of the set.
The whole production was run by two engineers, one on sound and one on lighting, working together to keep everything locked in and looking and sounding its best across the entire performance.
