Following the earlier tech rehearsal, Sonic Sound returned to CICCIC, Taunton to provide full sound hire and engineering for the public performance of Metropolis with a live soundtrack by Palooka 5.
The sound system was built around the same standard sound hire kit, ensuring consistency between rehearsal and show. This included a digital sound desk, comprehensive microphone coverage for all instruments, wireless microphones, wireless in‑ear monitoring, stage boxes, DI boxes, and professional cabling throughout the stage and FOH areas.
Having already rehearsed in the venue proved invaluable. Monitor mixes were quickly dialled in, and FOH balance was refined to suit a seated audience experiencing both film and live music simultaneously.
Wireless systems were again prioritised for reliability, with fresh batteries fitted across IEMs and radio microphones before doors opened.
As with the rehearsal, I supplied simple stage lighting at no additional cost, providing subtle illumination for the band while keeping attention on the projected film.
This event highlighted how effective preparation and consistent equipment can result in a smooth, confident live performance with minimal technical friction.
